Featured Product – January 2014
Anthem recently updated its AV receiver line, and with a new flagship taking the helm, few were surprised to find that the MRX 710 is – in a word – outstanding.
Read on and learn why the Anthem MRX 710 is our Featured Product for January 2014.
Why we chose the Anthem MRX 710

Because we believe in great performance and great products. Not only does the MRX 710 look incredible – its beauty is backed by pure sound quality and a slew of impressive calibration options that really let you fine-tune your setup.
In order to focus on making an AVR that gets you the best performance for your buck, Anthem left out features like AirPlay and Bluetooth connectivity. While this may be a deal breaker for some, we’ve found most people tend to rely on devices like Apple TV for these features anyway.
That said, the team at HiFi House absolutely loves the MRX 710, including system designer James Hathaway, who can’t say enough good things about Anthem’s new lineup:
“[The] MRX 710 is an absolute joy to work with. The way Anthem has redesigned their highly-regarded ARC feature is nothing short of stunning. It calibrates more effectively in about a fifth of the time. The 710 is their pinnacle in all-in-one performance, and I’ve never worked with a better sounding AV receiver.”
If you’re looking for an affordable AVR that promises to be a treat to your ears, we think the Anthem MRX 710 may just do the trick.

We’re not the only ones who love the Anthem MRX 710. The AV receiver recently earned a 4.5-Star rating from Dennis Burger of Home Theater Review, who writes:
“…if pure audio performance is what you’re looking for, if you’re itching for a surround sound receiver that performs shockingly well with five channels tied behind its back when you’re listening to stereo sources, or if you’re hunting for an AV receiver that would also make for an amazing (not to mention affordable) preamp when your budget allows, I can’t encourage you enough to audition the MRX 710.”
Home Theater Review even went on to include the MRX 710 in its “Best of 2013 Awards.”
” The new MRX 710 delivers the sound quality we loved in its predecessor but with even better room correction and custom integration.”
Home Theater Review does an excellent job detailing the setup process and a few other things you might expect to encounter while using the MRX 710, making Dennis Burger’s review a must-read if you’re interested in Anthem’s latest flagship AVR.

While we won’t cover everything under the MRX 710′s hood, we will take a moment to highlight some of its more significant specs and features.
One of our favorites is ARC 1M, the enhanced version of Anthem Room Correction. If your room isn’t the picture-perfect setting for a sound system, ARC 1M can help manage those inconsistencies, working to get you the best performance possible for your environment.
Bi-amping of the front speakers is also an option with the MRX 710, something absent in prior models. The MRX 710 also boasts 120 W of power (2 channels driven) or 90 W (5 channels driven) at 8 ohms.
Eight HDMI inputs with faster HDMI switching mean you’ll be ready for just about anything you add to your system down the line. Likewise, with 4K upscaling and a 4K pass-through, you’re prepared for whenever you upgrade to an Ultra HD projector or display.
If you’re in need of more custom installation features, the MRX 710 has those, too. Along with standard IR control, the Anthem MRX 710 also includes RS-232 control, and IR emitter output, a trigger output, and a second audio zone.
Top that off with a 3-year manufacturer’s warranty, and you’ve got an AVR designed to make the most of your music and movies for years to come.
